Prospective MembersInterested in becoming a Field Active Member? The current Alpine Rescue Team prospective member class began in January of 2011. We anticipate that the next prospective member class will begin in late January of 2013. If you are interested in participating in our 2013 class, we recommend that you start attending our Wednesday night classroom trainings in the late summer/early Fall of 2012. Although we have started our 2011 prospective member class, any interested individuals are welcome to attend our Wednesday night classroom trainings at our headquarters. Some Wednesday night trainings are field trainings, which are not open to the public or prospective members. Please check the Team Event Calendar on the teams website for location and type of training. Also note, the second Wednesday of the month is our business meeting and not real interesting from a visitors standpoint. However, you are welcome to attend to learn more about the business side of the team. In November and December of 2012, the team will have two orientation meetings for all prospective members. These orientation meetings will begin at 7:00pm and will be held at the Alpine Headquarters. We require all prospective members to attend one of these two orientation meetings. All prospective members are required to submit an application. All applications will then be reviewed and interviews will then be scheduled. Interviews will be held in early January of 2013. Membership applications can only be picked up at the two orientation meeetings. The team also accepts applications for Associate Membership at any time. If you are interested in helping the team with it's fundraising and other administrative duties, please contact our President (president 'at' alpinerescueteam.org). Please read the following additional information about our application process: A new prospective member class is typically held beginning in late January every other year. Prospective members go through 8 to 10 classroom trainings and 4 to 6 field trainings before they start participating with the rest of the team. After an evaluation period lasting until October, those that meet the requirements are then eligible to be voted on by the team to become field active members. Attendance at all of the PM trainings is mandatory! Important information regarding perspective member requirements and scheduled trainings is here. Depending upon the needs of the team, a class of 8-14 people is selected from those interviewed. The team looks for individuals who wish to help others and have the time and desire to contribute. No special skills are required. Attitude is much more important than skill level, and specific skills needed to participate will be taught. A good way to improve your chances of getting selected for an upcoming prospective member class is to attend our Wednesday evening classroom trainings. This allows you to learn about us and for us to learn about you. When you attend one of these trainings, always sign in and ask to talk to our Prospective Member Director, Jerry Petrilli, about membership. Wednesday night classroom trainings are at 7:00 at the Alpine Rescue Team headquarters. I-70 and the Evergreen Parkway. From Westbound I-70, take exit 252 [Evergreen Parkway]. At the first traffic light turn right, and then take an immediate right-hand turn onto Rainbow Hill Rd. You'll see the HQ building on you left. From Eastbound I-70, take exit 251 [El Rancho / Evergreen]. At the stop sign turn right. The road bears to the east and climbs.
