Support

Alpine Rescue Team is a tax-exempt charity under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law for both federal and Colorado tax purposes. The team survives on donations from the public, along with some state and local grants. The Alpine Rescue Team has been providing their services for FREE for the past 51 years!!

Annual support comes from the Colorado Search and Rescue Fund and the Clear Creek, Gilpin and Jefferson County Sheriffs Departments along with donations from the public.

Each year a number of fundraising events contribute substantial non-grant income to the team: the Little Bear Benefit Concert and the Evergreen Town Race (conducted by Colorado Road Runners, Inc.), the Mt Evans Ascent along with the Combined Federal Campaign help fund the team each year. Alpine Rescue Team’s Combined Federal Campaign number is 50111.

Occasionally, individuals whom Alpine has rescued contribute to the team; however, we do not solicit such contributions nor charge for any of our services!

The team has tried to maintain a reserve fund sufficient to operate the team for two years and attempts to reserve funds for major capital purchases. The greatest repeating annual expense for the team is insurance: workers’ compensation insurance for team members, liability and motor vehicle insurance cost more than $15,000 each year.

Tax deductable contributions can be made to the team by going to the Donate page or by downloading the Donation Form (PDF), printing it out, and mailing it to Alpine Rescue Team. For questions regarding contributions and finances, please e-mail the team treasurer (treasurer ‘at’ alpinerescueteam.org).
